United States do not allow same sex marriages it seems that perhaps the majority of the population does not desire to see same sex marriages legalized. But, the question, as
is the case with most controversial legal questions, is ultimately why people do not want same sex marriages. There are many arguments, and in truth these arguments fall very flat,
holding no true foundation. The following paper examines the pros and cons of the issue and argues that same sex marriages should be legal. Same Sex Marriage One
of the most pressing reasons why people will argue that same sex marriages should not be legal involves the fact that homosexuals are not "normal" and two people of the
same sex should not be allowed into the precious institution of marriage. One author suggests the same indicating that, "The idea that gay marriage is wrong because gay couples are
somehow unnatural is not often stated openly, but this premise influences other arguments and lies behind many peoples negative opinions about homosexuality in general" (Cline, 2009). But, in all reality,
how many people who are heterosexual are actually "normal." This argument that homosexuality is not normal seems to go against the fact that there have been people with homosexual orientation
since the beginning of time. In fact, one could likely argue that in many cultures it has been, and is, far more prevalent than it is in the United States
today. This essentially means that homosexuality is not something new, nor is it something that is deviant for there have always been homosexuals. One big argument concerning same sex
marriages involves the institution of marriage. One author, for example, argues, "legal and ecclesiastical embrace of homosexual unions is more likely to undermine the institution of marriage and produce other
