century B.C., it seemed clear to the prophets "Amos, Hosea, Isaiah and Micah" that God had ended his "special relationship with Israel," as these Old Testament books endeavor to

extended process that is recognized by the Israelites "only in the long run" (Clifford and Anatolios 740). It is Isaiahs perspective that particularly informs the writing of Lukes Gospel, as
this account of Jesus ministry portrays it as a "coherent judgment comprising sin, chastisement and restoration" (Clifford and Anatolios 740). The prophetic model can be summarized as portraying four distinctive
characteristics. First of all, divine saving presence intercedes into human history through divine intervention and through God using human instrumentality to accomplish divine purpose (Clifford and Anatolios 741). Secondly, this
