that keeps popping up in one sort of food product or another, and in some cases it can be a very deadly pathogenic microbe that can potentially destroy a person.
The following paper examines salmonella, discussing the microbe and its treatment possibilities. Salmonella "Salmonella is a Gram-negative facultative rod-shaped bacterium in
the same proteobacterial family as Escherichia coli, the family Enterobacteriaceae, trivially known as enteric bacteria" (Todar, 2005). It is incredibly well studied, like E. coli, and according to Todar (2005),
understood just as little as is E. coli in terms of an ecological perspective. It is a microbe that exists within the intestines of many animals, both warm and cold
blooded (Todar, 2005). "In humans, Salmonella are the cause of two diseases called salmonellosis: enteric fever (typhoid), resulting from bacterial invasion of the bloodstream, and acute gastroenteritis, resulting from a
foodborne infection/intoxication" (Todar, 2005). Typhoid Bacillus was first discovered at the start of the 19th century (Todar, 2005). While the definition of
typhoid became connected with salmonella, at the time, during the beginning of the 19th century, there were many fevers that were given the name of typhoid fever (Todar, 2005).
As noted, this microbe exists in the intestinal tract of animals. It can be essentially found in one animal predominantly, "can be ubiquitous,
or can have an unknown habitat" (Todar, 2005). For example, "Typhi and Paratyphi A are strictly human serovars that may cause grave diseases often associated with invasion of
the bloodstream" (Todar, 2005). There are forms that are found in water or food, through contamination associated with fecal matter, and there are forms that are found in ovine, porcine,
