astounding young girl who showed strength and faith and courage, possessing more of these traits than most people will show in a lifetime. The following paper examines the life and
the qualities of Saint Maria Teresa Goretti. Saint Maria Teresa Goretti "St. Maria Goretti was a young peasant girl born in Palliano Italy on October 16, 1890. Marias
family can only be described as abjectly poor" (St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 2006). Another author indicates that the only possession the family truly owned was a statue of the
Virgin Mary and that the children had no toys to play with, nor were they wealthy enough to send any of the children to be educated (Perisca, 2006). When
Maria was 8 years of age the family moved to a different town, a very impoverished and diseased town called as Pontine Marshes (Perisca, 2006). "In the nearby swamps pestilence
