been fairly extensive, both supporting the idea that a breakdown of systems (in other words, paying attention to the parts, rather than the whole of a particular task or project)
is a strong way to improve performance. But the nay-sayers of systems thinking and systems development claim that the process is
somewhat rigid, and doesnt allow for much creativity or flexibility, which is something that is needed on an organizational level. In
this paper, well examine some of the literature that has been introduced in terms of systems thinking and performance measurement, and once the literature has been analyzed, well apply it
to some questions about the topic. Before we begin, we need to point out that systems thinking, in and of itself,
wasnt created in the business world, but rather, came from the thinking and scientific method in the physical sciences (Steele, 2003). He points out that attempts to understand the whole
by breaking it down into the sum of the parts isnt exactly new, and it can be used for issues such as cost analysis and cost management (Steele, 2003). What
