offering, entitled "The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke" is clearly directed to, well, the young and broke. After earnestly telling her readership (clearly young adults who believe
they have the world ahead of them and who are not making as much money as theyd like) that there is a way out of their financial situation, she defines
what "broke" is (relying on a cash advance on the credit card to pay the rent and not opening those credit card bills because "youre terrified to see what you
owe and have no way of paying" (p. 12), she goes on to provide advice for a variety of topics (the best way to pay off the credit card balance
and student loans, apparently, is to "consolidate"). There are some good points in this book - she points out that not everyone
should plan to own a home, for example. The "American Dream" isnt necessarily the dream for everyone. Furthermore, aspects such as merging finances when one marries is an important thing
to consider, and paying off debt vs. saving is also a good and realistic portrayal about the fact that paying off debt is more important than saving (when one is
paying upwards of 10% on interest for credit cards verses the paltry 3% or 4% that one earns on a savings account, this is a solid strategy). Some aspects that
are bothersome, however, are the idea that getting a credit card and using it is actually a good idea. There are horror stories of young people doing just that and
then ending up in debt they couldnt pay off for years. But the problem with the book is that the majority of
