It operates under the name ASDA in the United Kingdom and SEIYU in Japan (Biesada, 2011). Wal-Mart de Mexico (Walmex) is the companys Latin American arm (Biesada, 2011). The company
has also made inroads into Africa and other parts of Europe (though Germany, with its emphasis on employee unions, has managed to stymie the worldwide low-cost leader).
