what makes someone in the entertainment industry rise out of the ranks to single himself out as someone special? In regard to Steven Spielberg, it seems to have been a
combination of cumulative experiences as a young man, the development of an intense drive to succeed and focus of vision. To date, Spielberg is ranked as THE most commercially
successful film maker in film history. When one considers that this puts him ahead, monetarily, of such greats as Francis Ford Copula, Hitchcock, and others. Of course, each is an
artist in his own way, and Spielberg is no exception to this. When one looks back on his career to date it seems as if he were following a plan
that were carefully and thoughtfully planned out. Where does anyones drive and motivation come from? It comes from that something deep inside a person, that something which states that this
is what one is going to do for the rest of his life. In the entertainment world there are always setbacks, always those times when one wonders if one is
heading in the right direction. This is especially true during the lean years when one is establishing himself. This seems to have been step one in Spielbergs career. Simply put,
he paid his dues. Many of those dues included working for other people and learning from some of the best in the industry. He worked on various successful shows
as Columbo and Rod Serlings Night Gallery. From there he graduated to doing his first full length feature film: Duel. His next step would be to graduate to the silver
