house experience" along with its brews, Starbucks has been long known for fair treatment of employees and an interesting marketing plan. But
now that the company is starting to enter the "mature" stage of its lifecycle, in that its no longer a start-up, what does the future hold for this company? These
are some of the questions well try to answer in this paper. What changes in organizational structure will Starbucks make as it ages? What are some of the benefits and
potential problems? During 2006, Starbucks continued its goal of opening two or three new stores each day, and there doesnt seem to
be any indication that things would be any different in 2007 (Stopper, 2004). If anything is likely to happen, its that the
growth of the number of stores is likely to slow. Also, rising milk prices might force one of two things -- increased higher prices, or new product development, in which
the product in question maybe wouldnt be milk-based. Finally, rising energy and labor costs, as well see later, is an issue. Rising
labor costs could mean that Starbucks either needs to cut back on the number of people it hires, or may have to cut salaries and benefits of those people already
