analyze and dissect, if you will, the inner most components of an enclosed area of land, habitat or environment. These environments can be as diverse as the cellular level,
or as large as a section of swampland in Florida. Basically put, spatial ecology is the arrangement of points, of plants or other organisms, or of patches of organisms in
space which exhibits a certain amount of predictability(Bellette 2002). In other words, for a set amount of time, certain species of plant or animal have tended to behave in certain
fairly predictable ways. In Bellettes study of indigenous plant life, he was able to plot on a graph certain areas of plant growth, and then having documented this over a
period of time could safely assume that all things being equal that some predictions about plant growth in this area were possible. He states that spatial patterning can be the
result of morphology, plant interactions, soil factors and other disturbance factors(Bellette 2002). So, for instance, if Bellette knew that a certain plant reproduced on a said amount of spores
per plant, he then, would be able to predict over a certain period of time the amount of growth in the area. This could also work in reverse. For example,
if a person wanted to know when a certain type of plant probably became established in an area, perhaps he then could simply calculate back to the approximate number of
plants and arrive at an approximate time of introduction. However, the problem with spatial ecology is that the environment is not a sterile lab experiment. Variables such as temperature, animal
movement through the area, and weather could all have a large impact on a plants dispersal in a given area. These would have to be factored in some way in
