for this purpose is Southwest Airlines, headquartered in Dallas, TX. Southwest Airlines is a short-haul, no-frills, low-fare, point-to-point passenger air carrier (though it does haul some cargo as well) (Gilmer,
2010). The company enjoys a remarkably low turnover, and an outstanding relationship between union and management, which is rare in this industry. There are a variety of reasons why this
would be such a great company to work for. (500-700 words, all told) Appeal of
the culture. Why does SWA have such a great culture? Mainly because the company has three requirements for its employees. First, employees are required to have a warrior spirit; meaning
they need to work hard, display a sense of urgency and have a deep desire to be the best (Culture, 2010). Second, employees need a servants heart, meaning following the
Golden Rule, treating others with respect and working as an important part of the Southwest Airlines family (Culture, 2010). This also means putting the needs of the customer before ones
own as well (Culture, 2010). Finally, there is the Fun-LUVing attitude, which encourages employees to be passionate about their work and company, to
maintain perspective and balance and to have fun (Culture, 2010). Values shared. This particular question is a very personal one that the
student needs to answer on her own. However, her answer could probably be framed as follows. I am a believer in hard work and treating others with respect. But I
also want to enjoy what Im doing, and enjoy the people who are around me, and with whom I am working. I like the idea of SWAs focus on empowerment,
