very few places to turn. However, it is not all doom and gloom where the small business is concerned. Many small businesses are making a go of the new atmosphere,
while others are doomed for extinction. CASE STUDY ONE: STEVES OLYMPIC TEES Steve was a highly educated man. He had a degree in physics but lacking opportunity took a high
paying job with the local bank in his hometown. He was well liked by everyone, but the banking life wasnt for him. He decided that he wanted a lifestyle that
allowed him more flexibility, where he could be his own boss. He did some initial research and found a few suppliers. Only a few were willing to work with
him since he was a new business. His idea was to capitalize on the fact that the Olympics were coming to Atlanta that year. He printed up a series of
Olympic tee shirts, hoping to cash in on the college students trends that he had noticed earlier that year. Thinking that all of the college students would want to buy
a tee shirt, he opened up shop. Unfortunately, what happened was that the business didnt boom as hed envisioned. He was working like a dog and had nothing to
show for it. His idea to have the place looking like an art gallery had not had the intended effect as well. In short, Steve made some fatal errors in
his lack of research which probably contributed to his lack of success. What type of research could Steve have done to better prepare to open the business? And would the
