Johnson, just your average kid, whose family is splitting up. The imminent demise of his familial surroundings upon him, he decides to leave home until everything blows over. Why he
is actually traveling, Tyler isnt exactly sure, until the end of the book when he visits Los Angles. This book is the third in his series about the lost wandering
under twenty set, with the major exception being that Shampoo Planet deals with the search for self identity and personal truth. Tyler lives in Lancaster, Washington. Thats about all there
is to say about the town, and thats why Tyler wants to leave it. Like most teens, his ideas and dreams are bigger than the place where he lives. Given
that his parents are divorcing he sees his big chance to distance himself from them. The funny thing is, he is already distanced from them. They are from the era
of free love, rock and roll and drugs, and he is dreaming of a great paying job with a major corporation. In fact, Tylers one desire is to work for
a man named Frank Miller who is a big hotel/motel millionaire. Depending on the perspective of the reader, Tyler also has the redeeming trait that he is very concerned about
the environment and is torn by the pollution that has almost destroyed Lancaster. On top of it all, he doesnt understand his parents and they dont understand him. Nothing
new here. What is different, though, is that Tyler takes a trip to Europe, and while he is there begins to have the preconceived notions he has stripped away. While
