Jung One of Sigmund Freuds most astute students, Carl Jung, would go on to expand upon his former teachers theories about the unconscious
mind. According to Jung there are three parts to the psyche. The ego, of course, is one part and is closely aligned with the conscious mind. The personal unconscious is
that which is not in the front of ones mind, but can be recalled to that position if needed. Lastly, there is the collective unconscious. This influences the experiences of
a person the most, he theorized, especially the emotional ones. This happens in an indirect way, however. According to Jung, this collective unconsciousness explains cases of d?j? vu, love at
first sight, and the instant recognition and identification of certain cultural archetypes(Theories of Personality 2004). Theory Two: Erik Eriksson One does not have to look very far to see
that there is a natural cycle to everything. Seeds fall, sprout, grow, produce their own seeds and the cycle begins again. Just as it occurs in nature, human beings exhibit
similar stages(Coles 2000). Erik Erikson, considered one of the worlds leading experts on the stages of a human life span, lists these stages in specific order. In fact, Erikson argues
that one must successfully complete one stage before moving on into the next. What is interesting to note, then, based on Ericksons theories, is how some people do not progress
