Throughout its existence, the company had to refine its management, operational and supporting processes so it could compete on a global basis.
In this paper, well study how Samsung has managed to excel in all three of these areas. Samsung is headquartered in Korea,
though it has a large presence in the United States. Given the companys size, well be discussing the processes in a general fashion, though its implied that each of the
different business units might engage somewhat differently in each process. Management Processes Any companys management knows how to govern and operate
so that the company can do what it was built to do - namely, make a profit. The management at Samsung has initiated a combination of supply chain management and
Six Sigma to ensure that the company runs smoothly. The first step is introduction of the methodology, which is a training program
consisting of a mentoring program that puts together trained employees with those who could use some help (Yang et al, 2007). Management relies on a belt system, similar to that
of martial arts, to measure improvement among people and processes (Yang et al, 2007). Though the process is disciplined, there is little thats cold-hearted about it. Rather, Samsungs management is
interested in ensuring that people can develop to their full potential. By developing in this way, its believed that the processes will run more smoothly. The continuing steps involve continued
training and upgrading, with the understanding that the eventual goal isnt a milestone, as much as it focuses on continuous goals - continuous improvement.
