financial person in question is a Chief Financial Officer of a fairly large company. The information is being presented in a question-and-answer format of an example of how to interview
such an individual, and what kind of answers might be expected or anticipated. Q. What are the duties of your job? How
long have you worked at your current position? A. Ill start out by answering the second question, if thats okay. Ive been
in my current position for about five years. I didnt start out in this position, but was hired on about eight years ago as vice president of the finance department,
and I reported to the CFO. I was being groomed for this position, so when the CFO left, I was appointed to the job.
My overall mission is, very simply, to oversee anything that has to do with money in this company. To be more specific, Im responsible for overseeing my companys
accounting and financial practices and developing and carrying through financial strategies, planning and forecasts. Im the one who tells the big boss, the CEO, if he has the necessary funds
to expand, increase salaries, pay shareholders and so on. Q. What other jobs did you have?
A. I began life as a CPA for a tax company, but decided that doing income taxes was kind of a boring way to live. Ive worked
as a senior accountant for other large companies, and was financial comptroller for my companys competition. This company hired me away from the other company.
