avoided some of the economic and political troubles that plague the democracy today. RUSSIA AND DEMOCRATIZATION While it would seem nothing but a positive concept for post-Communist Russia to
be out of the social barriers that confined them for so long, it also serves as a double-edged sword. The people have been so used to being under the
very control they wanted to shed, yet at the same time, they have also been quite helpless to some extent without the constant authoritarian overseeing providing direction. This dichotomy
presents a perplexing contemplation in relation to Russian nationalism. Indeed, this has come to represent one of the unexpected circumstances of the Communist collapse; however, it has not proven
to be such a distraction that the new nationalists Russians are lamenting the fall. The social and political changes that have occurred since the collapse of the Soviet Union in
post-Communist Russia are grand and far-reaching; indeed, it can readily be argued that this singular historical episode was the integral component to reassessing Russian nationalism. From this newly embraced
affectation myriad opportunities have been generated for its people, not the least of which include such subgroups as women, ethnic workers, minorities and farmers. Russian nationalist business people, in
addition, have proven to benefit from the mindset expansion that accompanied the political fall. "A new breed of Russian civil servants with close business ties are trying to turn
government departments and ministries into agencies for serving the interests of the business community. The Russian civil service is also facing an exodus of skilled and semi-skilled personnel who
