has been the ability to weather the economic storm and grow there is still the issue of maximising resources. For many industries where there is an interest not only in
the finished product, but also in the process that create than product, related diversification into tourism appears to be the logical step. One of these industries is that of
the wine industry. Australia has a large number of wineries ands vineyards, with the increasing global awareness of Australian wine and the increasing acceptance of quality has increased the market
and the interest in Australian wines (Treadgold, 2000). As such, many vineyards and wineries , such as Evans and Tate and their Redbrook Vineyard, have entered the tourist market to
enable increased income though direct sales as well as looking at the role of the diversification as a support activities (Evans and Tate, 2003).
This has increased their need to be aware of issues in rural tourism and also the need to consider how the potential problems of entering as staying in this
market may be realised. This industry may be seen as peculiar, rather than just having to attract tourists to their establishment to justify the effort there also needs to be
direct sales of wine made. This requires a logical approach, but also one that considers a multifaceted approach with many factors that are difficult to define. This also means that
