the hiring of a prostitute, but truly, these are victimless crimes. Others disagree and believe in the states right to regulate morality. That said, a student submits a statement
that is to be explained, as follows: "Rousseau believes that our moral freedom is absolutely inalienable. " In other words, moral freedoms are absolute. They should not be taken away
by government. This idea is something that is today closely aligned with the Libertarian party. Rousseau would likely defend the rights of the people to do as they like.
At least, that is how it appears on the surface. Yet, Rousseau did believe in law and order, but he did not believe that bureaucrats should make the rules. Rather,
he believed in the collective will of the people. He envisioned a society where people could get together and make law. It was their world. Why should someone else run
it? According to a student, one of the "central corollaries of this position (is) that only direct representation preserves our freedom as citizens." The term "direct representation" is somewhat of
an oxymoron as many have come to look at democracy as either a direct democracy or a representative democracy. At the same time, it seems that Rousseau supported the idea
of direct democracy, something that would suggest that he supported the ideology that people would be directly represented. They would represent themselves instead of relying on an electorate. It should
