about Rousseaus childhood and experiences. Rousseau is thought to have had "humble beginnings" ("Jean Jacques Rousseau," 2006). Born in 1712, his father was a Calvinist who would go into exile
as he was charged with a crime ("Jean Jacques Rousseau," 2006). He had been sent to a parsonage as an uncle had to take care of him, and there was
a great deal of harsh discipline at this school ("Jean Jacques Rousseau," 2006). Some believe that he had developed a significant adverse reaction to authority at this time ("Jean Jacques
Rousseau," 2006). Also, the fact that his father might have been falsely accused of a crime can be aligned with a sense of unfairness that surely lurks. He would
get out of school only to be unsuccessful ("Jean Jacques Rousseau," 2006). He further felt responsible for the death of his mother ("Jean Jacques Rousseau," 2006). By this account, it
appears that Rousseau must have had a sad life. He had been seemingly wronged by society in various ways. He was misunderstood. Rousseau soon found someone who could take the
place of his mother, at least in terms of her love, and also, he would convert to Catholicism ("Jean Jacques Rousseau," 2006). He was beginning to find his way out
of his despair. He would go on to take a mistress, attempt a musical career, and have five children ("Jean Jacques Rousseau," 2006). He married his mistress late in
life ("Jean Jacques Rousseau," 2006). He would go on to write a number of works but in 1755 he wrote the Discourse on the Origin of Inequality, "stating that
original man was preferable while isolated from the corruption of social institutions; that vices develop out of a society where man starts to compare himself to others and becomes prideful"
