Ocular Rosacea, which affects the eyes (About-Rosacea.com, 2005). If left untreated, Rosacea can cause considerable damage to the veins of the face and can result in inflammation, swelling and
the development of permanent red lines (About-Rosacea.com, 2005). One of the central problems with Rosacea is that it is a chronic condition that continues to mystify researchers. Though
studies have been conducted to determine the specific cause of Rosacea, little is truly known about its etiology. In developing a treatment plan for Rosacea, it is necessary to
consider the possible or probably etiological factors, relate them to the pathology of the disease, and create an overall view of Rosacea that relates to the individual characteristics of the
patient. Pathology Rosacea is a disease of the skin that can also impact the eyes (Ocular Rosacea). Rosacea begins with the presence of redness in
the face, including uncharacteristic reddening of the cheeks, and progresses to the presence of pustules, or pimples (NAIMS/NIH, 2002). Damage to the veins of the face can result in
a thickening of the skin over time (NAIMS/NIH, 2002). While Rosacea most commonly affects the skin of the face, it can appear in other parts of the body (NAIMS/NIH,
2002). Significant Statistics Rosacea appears most commonly in older adults, especially those between the ages of 30 and 60, though some children have been diagnosed with Rosacea (About-Rosacea.com,
2005). Generally, Rosacea first appears in individuals in their 30s and 40s, and while it is more frequent in people who are white or Anglo-European, cases of Rosacea have
