stages are to an individuals mental, emotional and social structure. Parks grew up in Tuskegee, Alabama, a child of carpenter James McCauley and
teacher Leona, learning important life lessons early on that instilled in her how to be resourceful, thrifty and economically cautious. Religion was interwoven within her poor but loving family,
oftentimes representing the common bond among her parents and sibling Sylvester when money was unbearably short. Indeed, Parks religious reflections carried her through many a bad time throughout her
childhood and adolescence, helping to shape her adult life experiences by remaining with her even after she married and right up through her twilight years. The stages of life that
Parks has experienced reflect dramatic changes that served to shape every nuance of her existence. These psychosocial stages, as termed by psychologist Erik H. Erikson, represent the manner by
which Parks life has been assembled and ultimately played out. That religion has been a significant focus of Eriksons eight stages indicates how Parks various crises directly associated with
each stage were more easily addressed, inevitably elevating her to the next stage. "If the person copes with a particular crisis in a maladaptive manner, the outcome will be
more struggles with that issue later in life. To Erikson, the sequence of the stages is set by nature. It is within the set limits that nurture works
