really going on. It is, as the title suggests, actually a story that possesses two mysteries, and Room One is called Room One because it is the only room in
the one room schoolhouse in the small town. The following paper offers a review of the book by Clements. Room One: A Mystery or Two by Clements The
book begins with the character of Ted seeing a face in an old boarded up house. It is the old Anderson place and there is supposed to be no people
living there, as the family supposedly left town. But, he sees a face and wonders. He quickly discovers that the face he saw is Alices and Alice and her mother
and brother live in the house still, though secretly. The father of the family was killed in Iraq and it seems that the mother does not want anyone to know
they are there and as such they are almost starving. Ted befriends Alice and ultimately meets her mother too. He brings them food and tries to understand why they
are hiding out in the house. He promises not to tell anyone they are still living there but he eventually breaks that promise because he really wants to help them.
