The artistic sense of Romanticism passed down from the eighteen hundreds is just as alive today as it was in the days of Marquis de Sade and William Blake; however,
the slight modifications are all courtesy of a sharper, more observant collection of twenty-first century inhabitants. While the fundamental tenets of imagination and desire are still recognizable in their
original form, the twenty-first century has put a small but noticeable spin upon a standard of two hundred years ago that subscribed to a collection of extremes: "from light to
dark, from joy to dejection" (Hello Culture). One might readily surmise that the 1960s hippy culture helped to set the precedence of Romanticism into the twenty-first century. This "mass
movement with an ideology that was virtually a mirror image of 18th-century Romanticism" was critical in its ability to nurture an imaginative need that was seriously lacking throughout the country.
This rebellious, free spirit criticized the very basic aspects of society, clutching instead to the simplicity of nature and freedom. Clearly, one can readily pinpoint the primary romantic
properties of such a movement, such as social revolution, tremendous changes, new awakenings and different freedoms (Hello Culture). The main difference between Romanticism of the eighteen hundreds and the
