mover advantage as well as maintaining a reputation for quality and reliability (Rolls Royce, 2004; PG1). The company appears to be managing these divergent business units effectively, as
each are showing an increase in market share year on year. Companies that make purchases form Rolls Royce include in excess of 500 airlines, 2,000 marine customers, of which 50
are navies and 4,000 corporate customers, including utilities operators and helicopter operators (Rolls Royce, 2004; PG). The company also suppliers 160 armed forces. The customers are spread globally in more
than 150 countries (Rolls Royce, 2004; PG). To supply these customers the company has 35,000, the majority, 21,000, are based in the UK, 5,000 work for the
company in Europe and 8,000 are employed in North America (Rolls Royce, 2004; PG). In order to safeguard the future and maximise the use of resources one strategy is to
increase the income gained form services, this has been successful with services income increasing by 60% over the last five years (Rolls Royce, 2004; PG). Today the company has
a turnover of nearly ?6 million a year and an order book with ?18 million worth of orders. Nearly have of the income gained comes from services (Rolls Royce, 2004;
