550 employees. Job satisfaction among employees, including managers, has been declining in recent years (BrainMass, Inc., 2009; Martinez-Smith, 2006). Surveys of employees reveal the most dissatisfaction is focused on
compensation, i.e., salary and benefits. Employees are diverse in terms of education, experience, skills and expectations. The workforce is also very diverse in terms of the ages of employees. There
are four generations working at the company and each group has very different ideas about compensation, benefits and incentives (BrainMass, Inc., 2009; Martinez-Smith, 2006). The problem exists throughout the
company. Managers and other employees have been outspoken in their need for the company to change its compensation and benefits packages. Employees and manager are pushing for a system that
is based on performance and not just on seniority and cost-of-living increases (BrainMass, Inc., 2009). Employees in most departments want more interesting work to do. Also, since the company adopted
a teamwork system, employees would like to have the work accomplished on teams to be recognized. In other words, they would like the teams themselves to be recognized for their
contributions. Sales were declining and the company changed its approach to offset this event. The company adopted teams for the sales department as a way to better serve customers.
It was part of the customer-relationship management system they adopted (BrainMass, Inc., 2009; Martinez-Smith, 2006). The teams represent one of the processes with which employees are dissatisfied. The CEO
