grow to be about the size of a dime and take on the appearance of a ring. It has nothing to do with worms. That is a misnomer. Ringworm is
actually a specific fungus (Burnett, 2004). It is a skin fungi that can live on the top of the skin on a dead layer of keratin protein ("Ringworm (Tinea)," 2009).
These fungi usually do not invade the inner reaches of the body as they cannot survive on the mucous membranes ("Ringworm (Tinea)," 2009). They are often found in moist conditions
such as locker rooms. Athletes who are more likely to have skin-to-skin contact-such are wrestlers-are prone to conditions like ringworm. II. Primary Source : Fungus Again, ringworm is
not related to worms at all, as it is simply a fungus ("Ringworm of the skin," 2009). The types of fungi that cause ringworm spread on the top layer of

skin," 2009). It may spread through contact with either an animal or person ("Ringworm of the skin," 2009). If precautions are taken, ordinary contact will not necessarily cause the spread
of ringworm. Clothing must be washed carefully and an infected individual should take care not to share towels or combs or brushes. IV. Human Disease This is
