is the key in justice. He also argued that justice is one of the virtues of all social institutions. Rawls (1958) identified two principles that are associated with the
concept of justice. The first principle is that each individual who is involved in a practice or who is affected by a practice is entitled to liberty. The second principle
is that inequalities are arbitrary but there are two exceptions. The first exception is when it is not reasonable to expect that equalities would be equally advantageous for everyone (Rawls,
1958). The second exception has to do with whether or not the positions or offices are really open to everyone (Rawls, 1958). Rawls principles address three major ideas in justice
which are liberty, equality, and reward for all who contribute to the common good (Rawls, 1958). Rawls (1958) incorporates everyone in his discussions so that when he refers to a
person, he is really discussing individuals organization, churches, teams, groups, and so on. In his opinion, the principles of justice and fairness apply to all of these but he
does say there are priorities. All things being equal, equal liberty applies to everyone and there must be exceptionally strong justification to ignore the principles he outlines. The burden of
proof for any exception is directly on the shoulders of those attempting to make the exception (Rawls, 1958). The second principle identifies some of the exceptions or the kinds of
inequalities that would be allowed but first, there is a presumption that there are different offices and positions in any country, organizations, etc. For instance, there are different positions on
a sports team. Different positions and offices in institutions are not objectionable (Rawls, 1958). Members of the society, however, may complain about salaries, privileges, rewards, etc. that have to do
