Globalization has changed the world as we know it. In the larger sense globalization is simply the increased relationship between countries.
Accusatory fingers, however, most often point to the US as the primary catalyst this phenomenon. The US is sometimes credited with the most positive aspects of globalization. More
often than not, however, Americans are derided for what is perceived as an American ploy to control the world. The thesis can be presented that while many jump to
stereotyping cultural patterns to explain this purportedly one-sided relationship, used in a positive manner this approach can have value in emphasizing the issues at hand.
Globalization is, of course, a complex phenomenon. It has many positive impacts but, admittedly, it can have negative impacts as well. Critics have contended that globalization
goes hand in hand with the loss of individual identity. This loss occurs not just on a state level but also on a personal level and, by many accounts,
individuals in third world countries endure the greatest losses. In his entertaining article "Revolution is U.S." author Thomas Friedman Friedman (160)
