invest in agriculture and the landscape is problematic, with mountains and also deserts, making this an area where there is the need of innovations if improvements in the agriculture may
occur. Otherwise there are flat featureless plans with a low level of precipitation (CIA, 2003). Therefore the need for a new system can be seen not only as required due
to the shortage but also due to the difficult agricultural conditions. One of the methods that can be used would be that of subsurface drip irrigation. This would not
be cheap to set up, but has the advantage of making maximum use of water resources. subsurface drip irrigation places water in small amounts but frequently under the surface with
the use of emitters placed on a delivery line. This can help reduce the level of waster water from run off as well and also significantly increase the yield of
the crops that are grown (Neufeld, 2001). In terms of finding the water to irrigate the land with, this is also reduced as the amount required is the
only amount that needs to be taken form the water supply, and as such the same amount of water can be used for more projects, and this also helps to
increase the level of the water quality due to the potential problems with surface water and run off contamination (Neufeld, 2001). In a country where water contamination and disease
are also a problem this is also a plus point. There is also less problem of the runoff stripping the soil of valuable nutrients and eroding the soil that is
in place (Neufeld, 2001, Grismer, 2001). The efficiency of irrigation systems is measured by the use of a measure called water use efficiently, or WUE. When different forms
