learning. Learning Objectives The overall goal of the project was to develop, implement and evaluate a risk prevention educational program for nurses in a home care agency working with
chronically ill elderly patients. One of the first tasks was to identify what knowledge was needed in order to satisfy the overall goal. A number of areas of knowledge
were identified, along with the skills needed in order to gather the knowledge, which became the learning objectives. The learning objectives started with identifying information about falls including the way
falls maybe classified, the incidence of fall rates and the types of injuries that may result as well as the incidence. This was the first objective as it helped to
establish a base line against which the nursing agency could be compared as well as gathering the information regarding injuries. As the ain objective was aimed at improving matters
for the chronically ill elderly patients living in their home, the focus was on these types of patients, but this did not mean excluding other studies where they were relevant.
Evidence from research such as that by Nicolussi (et al, 2012, p723) and Yeo et al, (2003) was particularly useful. With falls being examined from the physical perspective it was
also necessary to look at the falls from a practical, social and a psychological perceptive to assess the impact that a fall would have on the individuals, including issues and
the way a fall may impact on overall quality of life. This was an important objective as it created the knowledge that would be needed in order to educate those
