emphasizes order; Collaborative cultures emphasize relationships with employees and with customers; Competence cultures focus on excellence and innovation; and Cultivation cultures are concerned with enrichment for employees and customers (Schulz,
2001). There are also subcultures within an organization that may differ from each other. The overall corporate culture is control but it is everyone controlling the new COO. The subcultures
are clearer in that each team is its own culture and the members of each team give their loyalty only to themselves and their manager. According to the sociogram, the
only manager with total influence in the whole department is the project manager. Even after weeks of being the COO, no one but the Marketing manager seems to think they
are accountable to the COO who is in an untenable position. These relationships are embedded in the culture and organizational cultures are extremely difficult to change. Heathfield (2008) said
that the culture will only change when the organization is facing a significant even, such as severely declining sales, or when a very strong leader takes the helm. The new
COO does not have time to use a transformational leadership style or any kind of collaborative style. The new COO needs to become authoritarian and take control of the department.
This should and will be changed later but right now, they have a deadline set. The COO will need to begin by letting the three managers, the marketing manager, who
is somewhat supportive, the logistics manager and the project manager, neither of whom are supportive they have an objective to meet. The recommendation is for the COO to give all
