the case we first need to look at the idea of resource dependency theory. When looking at this theory the way organisational success is seen as successfully under
dependency theory the approach is not to look at profit levels or sales, but to look at the way an organizations maximises their use of power (Pfeffer, 1981). For organizations
that are non-profit making and have a remit to try and influence different social and political bodies and opinions as well as have involvement with the community, the use fop
power may be argued as far more important than the use of other resources. This may not be seen as indicating other resources are not important, if FAO Forestry had
no resources they would not be able to undertake the projects they follow or exert influence and there would be no power to utilise, the resources and power are interdependent.
The way power is used in organisation and by organisations has been studied for many years, arguably starting with Weber, crossing over a great deal with social exchange theory
and the study of politics in the workplace (Huczyniski and Buchanan, 2003). The use of resource dependency theory can be characterised as the links that exist within organizations that are
based on exchange resources (Pfeffer, 1981). The theory states that were there are actors that do not have the required level of resources to achieve their goals they will seek
