problem deals with this managers inability to rally the workers together as a cohesive, productive team; instead, he allows each person to do what he or she sees fit even
if it falls outside the scope of standard organizational approach. There simply is no structure to the present style of this particular production manager, which leaves the employees to
drift aimlessly where direction and motivation are concerned and causes the organization to fall far short of functioning at its potential. Critics have
openly noted that there are several concerns with regard to placing such significant emphasis upon leadership as being the saving grace of business progress: ambiguity in definition and measurement of
what leadership actually is; whether or not leadership has perceivable effects upon performance; and the selection process in succession to leadership positions, which frequently utilizes irrelevant criteria and has implications
