The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is one that offers advanced placement to high school students, greater learning opportunity and the possibility of graduating from high school
with a few college credits already earned. Clearly designed for college-bound high school students, the International Baccalaureate program can be of interest to other students as well but for
obvious reasons focuses on those preparing for college. Even though motivated to achieve acceptance into the colleges to which they apply, students still
may fail to fully engage with the International Baccalaureate program. The purpose here is to assess several approaches to researching student perceptions of the value of the International Baccalaureate
to their futures. Research Question Specific research questions may vary depending on the type of research approach ultimately chosen as the means of
investigating them, but essentially there are three broad questions that will be considered in the investigation. They are: * "Does the program only select certain types of students?
If so, is the program set up to improve the school in which it is housed? * "Other than the given percentage that show requirements met, what other form of
measurement signifies success of the program? * "Does there appear to be a positive correlation in the programs participants and academic grades?"
Alternative Hypothesis: Participation in the IB program positively affects students academic success as measured by grades. Null Hypothesis: Academic success or lack
