Introduction Consolidated Analysis Centers, Incorporated (CACI) require a new automated payroll system which can deal with payroll requirements for more than 12,300 staff working in different countries with divergent payroll issues such as different taxation systems. The system will interact with the human resource department records in order to apply relevant contract terms that are relevant for payroll issue, such as pay rates and holiday entitlement. The system will produce a completed payroll on a monthly basis for all employees, which is used to make payments to both employees and any relevant taxations authorities. 1.1 Problem Statement The system being utilized by CACI is unsatisfactory. The manual system is inaccurate due to the manual calculations and inefficient due to the amount of input labor required which includes manual reviews of all time cards in order to identify any missed punches, rounding and the addition of push card contents, the constant need to cross reference with contract terms, the requirement to gain supervisor approval for any exceptions to standard inputs, such as missed punches and the need for further input into the electronic payroll payment system. This results in a system, where there are inaccuracies due to the high level of manual processes, costly due to the high amount of labor input.
