a substantial loss. Perhaps more in this day and age of advanced electronics, the possibility of suffering a huge financial loss due to theft or fire or other type
of disaster is more possible than ever before. Renters are responsible for insuring their own property against loss or damage and obtaining liability coverage (Off-Campus, 2006). When theft or damage
occurs to rental property, renters may be compensated by the owner of the dwelling only for property loss resulting from the owners negligence, which normally has to be determined in
court (Off-Campus, 2006). POTENTIAL COVERAGE UNDER PARENTS HOMEOWNERSS POLICY OF INSURANCE Many students who are renting property have invested much more in their personal property than they realize. Serious
financial difficulties can be caused by fire, theft and floods, and especially water damage caused by any number of a type of plumbing failures (Renters Insurance, 2005). The purpose
of renters insurance is to provide protection against disasters and to provide the student with peace of mind. If a student maintains a legal resident with their parents,
some coverage may be provided by their parents or families homeowners policy. In many cases, the term "legal residence" refers to a situation where the parents are still supplying
