The Renaissance era produced some of the world's greatest poets. The Renaissance began as a cultural movement in the fifteenth-century. Aligned with the humanist movement, the new style depended on the Greek and Roman rhetoric as examples of literary style. The poetry of the era included romance, allegory, adventure, Neoplatonic ideas, patriotism, and Protestant morality.
