the Jordan River in one book (Jos 3; 4:15-18) and also carrying the artifact in battle in another book (1Sa 4:3-5) (Naves Topical Bible, 2007). As would be expected
the high priests could do all the duties of the priest, perhaps if they desired, but also maintained other higher duties. For example they " Had charge of the sanctuary
and altar" and would "designate subordinate priests for duty" (Naves Topical Bible, 2007). They maintained control over the treasury and the lights in the tabernacle (Naves Topical Bible, 2007). They
could burn incense and were known for offering up their own signs of ignorance (Naves Topical Bible, 2007). In addition they had the power to distribute the wealth of plundering
