This paper discusses passages from several religious texts: first it analyzes the quote, then discusses the philosophy of the scholar. Discussion The first quote is from Job, Chapter 42, verse 1-6, in which Job finally sees God with his own eyes. Upon seeing him, Job apologizes for speaking about things which he did not understand. He says that he knew of God only by report, but now that he has actually seen him, he will repent of his earlier actions. Job has been sorely tested as a result of a "bet" between God and Satan. Job loves God, but Satan says thats only because he has a family, good health and money. If these things were taken from him, he would curse God (Love, 2006). These things are indeed taken from Job, but he doesnt curse God, although he comes close (Love, 2006). He asks God why he should have to suffer-the equivalent of "when bad things happen to good people"-but God never answers his question (Love, 2006). Instead he shows him all the things he has done, and says there is much more going on that is of importance, and the universe does not revolve around Job. This is the lesson here: that we cannot be full of self-importance because its misplaced. The second quotation is: ""Praise be to God, Lord of the Universe, / The Compassionate, the Merciful." This is the opening to every Islamic prayer and the words are probably familiar to almost everyone. The Prophet Mohammad was the founder of Islam; it is a "revealed" religion, meaning that God revealed his word to man to create the faith. This is the Exordium, and it is a reminder to the faithful that God is all-powerful. ...
