played out in politics is potentially hazardous to the nations well being. Many other nations do not have such a system of government and in light of this they have
had many problems throughout their history. With religion playing a very powerful role in the control of citizens, physical and political turmoil often erupt. This leads us to many different
types of arguments and approaches. For example, "Scholarship on religion and society (especially on religion and politics) seems to be undergoing a transition, with social scientists eager to make sense
of the growing or at least more public role of religion in social change and conflict" (Peterson, 1996; 236). With that in mind the following paper examines some nations, some
of which are third world, and how their relationship between religion and politics has caused a great deal of problems. The paper then briefly discusses the conditions in the United
States and then finishes with a discussion or argument. Ireland Anyone who has paid attention to any political conditions in Ireland knows full well that religion has often
played a very powerful part in their political history, brining about a great deal of terrorist activity and a general feeling of anger and violence in the nation. Adams (2001)
