be applied to the nature of political things. The philosophy of naturalism is based on the idea of science; it is an approach which has been equated to Karl
Poppers inductive theory of science. The underlying theory is that the only way to explain reality is to test and retest it in order to discover and be able to
understand and make predictions. This is an approach where all phenomena that can be observed in nature can be explained by natural causes. As man is part of the natural
world the actions and reactions, including political motivations and actions, can therefore be explained by reference to natural rules. Individuals will have a natural role and the concept of naturalism
in politics is found as far back as Aristotle, who put forward the idea that the development of a city/state societal structure was natural, due to the way individuals need
to come together in order to survive as we are social animals. Politics deals not only with societal structures but also the controls and values that are applied in
the way that man comes together in a state and the applications of morals categorization on views and/or actions. However, there are elements that impact on these issues which are
not always seen as scientific and predicable in terms of the way emotions will influence actions and reactions. Smith and Hume both look at the concept of naturalism and use
