In contrast, a recent editorial described the WTO as "a private club for deal-making among the most powerful interests, portrayed as a public institution searching for international consensus" (Greider,
1999). In short, critics like Greider (1999) contend that the WTO aspires, "in effect, to create a bill of rights for capital, crafted one case at a time by
the corporate lawyers filing their confidential pleadings in Geneva" (Greider, 1999). Reflecting upon these statements using the following concepts of sui juris persons, organization-based society, public/private sector distinction, the
use of networks in the private sector and the use of network forms of organization in public life allows one to gain a significantly better understanding of both perspectives. That
