This presentation is an outline for a plan to reduce the level of obesity in young adults in the Brooklyn area
through a direct intervention program aim at creating long term change. Slide 2 The aim is to reduce obesity by empowering the obese individuals to
make changes, like any change model this will require the individuals motivations to make a change as well as giving them the tools that they need for the change to
take place, including the knowledge and skills needed. These are the basic elements of any change model. Slide 3
Healthcare practitioners will need to won over, in order to make referrals. Many will focus only on diet but this alone is not likely to result in long term
results. Dutton (et al., 2008), notes that diet is only one part of the equation in dealing with obesity, lifestyle has to be tackled as lifestyle when impact on
the level of physical activity which takes place. In addition to dealing with calorific intake and the general type of diet which
is consumed and the need for a nutritional balance physical activity is also an important aspect of lifestyle. Slide 4
