The following paper is a Platonic dialogue between three people: the narrator, who believes in recycling; Carol, a friend who is ambivalent about it; and her husband Tom who is antagonistic to the issue. "Even Matthew Hale, director of EPAs Office of Solid Waste, says that they dont "want a large truck carrying around just a few bottles," as this would be a waste of resources (Zeller 83). However, Hale also says that the majority of cities are getting better at reducing the costs involved in their recycling programs (Zeller 83). Everything that is bought, from a shrink-wrapped toy to a medical device, entails an "energy-intensive history"; therefore, when that material is recycled, there are "tremendous Btu savings," according to Hale" (Zeller 83).
