regency interiors and also other architectural structures as they involve looking to historical sources. The paper focuses on challenges and problems. Reconstruction In first examining how one would
go about reconstructing a regency interior relying on historical information we must first examine what types of historical information one would look to for help. The types of historical sources
one could use is actually quite extensive. Now, understandably, there would be no photographs which would illustrate an interior from times prior to the invention of photography. But, there would
likely be numerous pictures, or paintings we should say, which were painted in the interiors. Some of the paintings may be portraits, but in these portraits one may be able
to gather some information about a particular interior. Of course, one of the problems with this approach is the limited room given to the interior in any given portrait. In
addition, we would have to understand that the painter may have superimposed elements or brought in various elements to alter the background. For example, though we may see a large
tapestry in the background, as well as heavy velvet looking curtains of red, these elements may not have been in the environment at all. The painter may have altered the
color of the curtains, embellished them and superimposed a tapestry for depth. One could also look to other documents and works of the time period in order to gain an
understanding of the fashion and interior themes of regency interiors of the time. For example, particular colors and materials may have been more popular and more readily available. It may
