It is important, or at the very least interesting, to know history about almost anything and yet the ultimate reality of what one believes to be history is very subjective and likely not always even nearly representative of the truth. The following paper examines the reality of reconstructing history and the validity of such history. Reconstructing History In all honesty the most that history can do, in providing ultimate and truthful facts, is to perhaps present dates, deaths, births and what people said. And, even that can be less than accurate for people remember things differently and so the historical data is often not incredibly reliable. As an example, a father and mother can likely agree that their child was born on a particular day, because that is what the birth certificate said, but they will both remember the event very differently. She may be aware that her labor lasted 12 hours and he may argue it was 14 hours. She may argue that she said one particular thing and he would argue that she said something completely different. And, the people who may be in a room may have heard something even more different. This is speaking of a simple event, and even in a simple event people can become confused about a truth based on the fact that everyones "vantage point" or perspective is different. As one author notes, "Even with the benefit of the most up-to-date technologies seemingly recording every word and deed, room for disagreement remains spacious enough to prevent straightforward acceptance of even some of the most scrutinised events" (Nimah).
