Hoshang. Both masters gave compelling teachers and spoke with eloquence. Hoshang spoke first and taught that enlightenment can be attained quickly by having the adherent recognize and cultivate emptying the
mind of thought. The path that Hoshong advocated was that the adherent should cease all action, as action in his view was not necessary to achieve enlightenment and should endeavor
to stop all thought as well. This path to enlightenment, Hoshong promised would be swift (Tsering). The Chinese master said that his path to enlightenment was "like an eagle
flying from the sky and landing on the top branch of the tree," while the path described by Kamalashila, which requires practice, method and discipline was like a monkey who
has to grow and then learn to slowly climb the tree (Tsering). To this, the great master Kamalashila asked if the eagle did not first have to grow wings and
learn to fly. When Hoshong admitted this truth, Kamalashila argued that their paths are the same, as there is still the need for the eagle to grow and learn, there
is a "need of method" (Tsering). As this indicates, Kamalashila is the wiser of the two men and it is the path recommended by him, that is, Vajarayana Buddhism that
the people of your kingdom should adopt. The Vajrayana "mythologizes the doctrine of emptiness" (Conze, 2003, p. 178). Through the medium of various rites and rituals, an individual who
is an adept at the practice of Vajrayana Buddhism can reconnect with his "true diamond-nature" and take "possession of a diamond body," as he is "transformed into a diamond-being" (Conze,
