or characteristic of a rebel or rebellion: rebellious behavior; or Resisting treatment or control; unruly." Rebellious has equally as many synonyms as definitions, and include such terms as insubordinate,
mutinous, and seditious. In accordance with these definitions, several historical figures immediately come to mind. Socrates was rebellious because his method of philosophical inquiry was deemed to inspire
the insubordination of Greek youth. He encouraged young people to question everything and not to blindly accept that status quo. Jesus Christ was similarly regarded as a rebellious
