so that its use now generally indicates the spread of economic instability, rather than growth and prosperity (McNally, 1999). Rather than praising the benefits of a free market, governments across
Asia and Europe are publicly looking at the need for capital controls and new mechanisms for controlling world finance (McNally, 1999). What happened? The following examination of globalization demonstrates that
